FAST

FAST

Ash Wednesday (February 17,) and Good Friday (April 2) are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. Fasting is for healthy adults age 18-59. Abstinence from meat is for healthy teens and adults ages 14+. Those that are excused from fast and abstinence (outside the age limits) include the physically or mentally ill and individuals suffering from chronic illnesses (such as diabetes) and pregnant or nursing women. In all cases, common sense should prevail, and ill persons should not further jeopardize their health by fasting.

Why Does God Hide Himself with fr. Benedikt Grube, O.P.

November 3, 2017

On Sunday, November 19th, we will have a special presentation by a guest Dominican friar. FriarBenedikt Grube, O.P. will present an Adult Faith Formation session entitled, “Why does God hide himself?” from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Friar Benedikt has a Ph.D. in Philosophy (University of Texas at Austin) and MA in Philosophy and German Literature (University of Tübingen, Germany). He was a lecturer in Philosophy in Texas and Erfurt, Germany before entering the Order of Preachers, and is currently studying theology in Vienna. His academic interests lie at the intersection of philosophy, systematic theology and apologetics. He is also interested in Dominican spirituality and contemplative prayer. In his spare time, fr. Benedikt enjoys reading novels and listening to classical music, jazz and electronic music (which is a very German thing to do). He also enjoys watching various sorts of movies (from the sublime to the ridiculous).

Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance

February 6, 2017

One of the most remarkable things about our Faith is that by God’s grace, we have become his adopted sonsand daughters. In your day-to-day life, what does it mean to bea son or daughter of God-an heir to his promises and blessings? When you sit in the pews each Sunday, what does it mean to you to be part of his family, the Church?

Join us on Sunday mornings February 26 – April 30 to uncover the meaning to these questions. We’ll meet at 9:45 in the parish hall, and all are welcome. (It’s okay to come if you can’t make all the sessions.)

You will not only discovery our unique gift sand calling as a member of Christ’s Church; you will also help us to grow in fellowship as a parish as we grow closer to Christ together. The study will be facilitated by members of our Adult Faith Formation Team and includes videos presented by Jeff Cavins.

There is no cost to attend, but there is an optional workbook which includes online access to the videos ($20).  For more information contact Christina at [email protected].

Note: We will not meet on Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday.
