Constance Abbey is an intentional community that works with the Memphis unhoused population to meet immediate needs like food, showers and a change of clothes. They provide housing advocacy in partnership with local housing agencies. In addition, they provide advocacy for mental and physical health including transportation to appointments, medication assistance, hosting virtual appointments, employment assistance, recovery advocacy and placement, government liaison (ID, disability, unemployment filings, stimulus filings, food stamp applications and re-certifications, transportation and bus passes, and court appearances).
St. Peter Outreach through the Dominican Friars Outreach Fund grant helped provide improved government liaison services with increased ID replacement and transportation for healthcare and job opportunities. Increased technology to help communicate with agencies that are working remotely. Our space became more efficient and productive because of space improvement.
