Provide lifelong faith formation that deepens our relationship with Christ and forms us into active disciples preaching the Gospel to all the world.
“Stir into flame the gift of God.” 2 Timothy 1:6
Sunday Mornings st St. Peter
Most of our faith formation at St. Peter happens on Sunday mornings at 9:30 (between the 8:30 and 11:00 Masses). We plan to resume in-person faith formation on Sunday, September 12th, and hope to include Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Confirmation Preparation, a High School Study and some Adult Faith Formation. At this point, we plan for everyone 3 and older to wear masks, and we will have rooms set up so that we can allow for distancing. We may have to limit numbers in some age groups. Safety precautions will be reevaluated closer to our start date and will be adjusted during the year. For more information, or to register your child/teen, please contact Christina at [email protected].
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Sunday morning atrium sessions are offered for children ages 3-12, and this year we are adapting our nursery so that we can offer a toddler atrium experience for our youngest.
Level T: Toddlers (approximate ages 12 – 36 months)
Level 1: Children ages 3-6
Level 2: Children in grades 1-3 (including children preparing for First Communion)
Level 3: Children in grades 4-6
Confirmation Preparation
Per Diocese of Memphis norms, preparation for Confirmation is a two-year process, usually done when a student is in grades 7 and 8. Our 7th and 8th graders will meet on Sunday mornings beginning on September 12th. Confirmation will be celebrated on Sunday, February 27 at 11 AM.
High School Scripture Study
Our high school teens gather for fellowship and study on Sunday mornings. More details soon!
First Communion Preparation
Per Diocese of Memphis norms, preparation for First Communion is a two-year process, done usually when a child is in grades 1 and 2. Children attend atrium sessions on Sunday mornings. During the child’s First Communion year, we offer additional sessions or mini-retreats during the year. First Communion will be celebrated on Sunday, April 24th at 11 AM.
Walking With Purpose
This fall we are offering the Walking with Purpose Study for Women, Opening Your Heart on Tuesday mornings at 9:30. More information is available here: https://www.stpeterchurch.org/wwp/
Zoom Book Study
We offer a book study that meets on Zoom during the week. More information about the new fall study is coming soon!
RCIA
Weekly RCIA sessions will begin Wednesday, September 8th and all are welcome. RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and is the process for adults who would like to join the Catholic Church or just learn more. We usually meet on Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8:30 PM.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
Meets during 8:30 and 11:00 AM Masses. After the opening prayer, the children are invited forward for a special blessing. We go to the Choir Room for a prayer gathering where we read the Sunday Gospel, sing and pray. We return during the offertory. Registration is not required.
