Congratulations to our new and expectant parents! In seeking Baptism for your child, you make a public promise to journey with your child and to be the first teachers in our faith. Our parish community commits to supporting you in nurturing the faith of your child.
First time parents are expected to attend one Baptismal preparation session. Sessions are usually offered monthly, and parents can attend before the baby’s birth. (Note: If the child preparing for baptism is 2 ½ or older, we may schedule a family baptismal preparation with you and your child, separate from the one just for parents. )
We also offer baptism preparation for big sisters and brothers. We have copies of the book Child’s Guide to Baptism by Sue Stanton, and we are happy to schedule a family baptismal preparation session with the parents and the big brother/big sister if you’d like.
To register for a baptismal preparation session or for more information, please contact the church office at 527-8282 or [email protected].
Baptism is the sacrament that welcomes your child into the Church, and children are usually baptized during one of the regular weekend Masses (Saturday 5:00 PM, Sunday 8:30, or 11:00 AM) so that the parish community may join in the prayer and welcoming of the child.
Sometimes, for various reasons, it is not feasible for children to be baptized during Mass. These baptisms are scheduled depending on the availability of the church and a priest/deacon.
To schedule your child’s Baptism, contact the church office at 527-8282. Baptisms must be scheduled at least 4 weeks in advance. (Please note that certain Masses may not be available for Baptisms, for instance during Lent.)
